A Word About Provenance
ORIGIN late 18th cent.: from French, from the verb provenir ‘come or stem from,’ from Latin provenire, from pro- ‘forth’ + venire ‘come.’
One of our principal objectives in making A Girl for All Time® products is authenticity: to create beautiful, historically inspired dolls that stand the test of time and accurately reflect the period in which they are based.
Although our A Girl for All Time® characters are imagined, many of the people and events they encounter were very much real. Creating an imagined world based around historical events involves countless hours of research: wherever possible we have drawn upon original building designs, artwork, documents and costumes as reference for our unique and original range of dolls, novels and accessories.
Access to primary sources such as original portraits of Anne Boleyn, a rare Holbein cartoon of Henry VIII, the incredible collection of portrait miniatures in the V&A Museum, original dress patterns from Victorian 'Ladies Home Journal', or the the original heartbreakingly-naive love letter written by Katherine Howard to Thomas Culpeper before he died, helps us create a unique product range that is like no other.
We take great pride in creating the highest standards possible for all of our A Girl for All Time® products and hope you and your girls are as inspired by these remarkable resources as we are.
